16-17 Jan 2013Mind the gap...Yet more soil and a sifted layer, bitumenosa on the plywood, heavy duty plastic between the plywood and sand layer, another layer of plastic sheeting and finally the bitumen roofing and the gap has disappeared - marvelous! Back to sand bagsIt's been a while, but at last we can finish off the sandbag wall at the back of the roof. We still need to cover them with bitumen roofing and of course paint the whole lot white, but we're happy (and exhausted) with this weeks work. FREE TALKThursday 31 January at 7.30pm Alan Middleton will be at Luz de Luna to give a talk and slide show on clay and straw building. He shows and tells you of the ease of working this way and of course the benefits. He will follow up with a workshop 2nd and 3rd March. This is a truly remarkable story of the work he has done in Israel and you are welcome to share it with him. The clay and straw work can be used for buildings, walls, furniture etc. Well worth hearing it and then following it up with a workshop. See his web site here If you'd like to go to the talk email Barbara Clarke at barbaramoonlight@gmail.com so she knows how many chairs to put out!
